For example:
Tara asked intelligent questions about how to plan/consult and implement meaningful learning experiences for our students. Made use of current vision reports and staff documentation to gain a better understanding of students and the level of support needed for individual needs.
For example:
Created lesson plans following on from previous weeks observations that were well prepared and meaningful. Set goals that were attainable and worked towards set goals making student aware of what was expected.
For example:
Worked with several dual media students particularly a kinder student during literacy sessions. Planned lessons that were sequential and followed up previous concepts taught. When class teacher's program changed without warning adapted the lesson accordingly to suit and remain meaningful.
For example:
Used a variety of suitable strategies to engage students in class lessons. Made materials accessible to students and at times quickly found solutions when a casual teacher on class had not made work accessible for student. Quick thinking in solving the problem.
For example:
All vision staff commented on how relevant all questions asked were to the needs of the students and Tara has had some experience in working with vision students and this was evident in her support of students. Often sought out advice and acted accordingly.
For example:
Though limited with the duration of the practicum Tara sought out those who could give advice and direction as well as providing input herself that fostered an inclusive environment.
For example:
In literacy session Tara provided meaningful learning environment that led to age appropriate experiences for whole group and fostered in other students a better understanding of vision students needs.
Provided suitable adjustments to make lessons inclusive for vision student.
For example:
Tara was involved in a variety of lessons involving technology. Touch typing and CCTV use being two. Tara commented that had not had a lot of experience with CCTV and was involved across two different settings with students from beginners to competent in the use of CCTV and that she found this a valuable experience.
For example:
Tara has a very caring manner and provided ongoing and suitable reinforcement of progress and acknowledged success.
For example:
Used child's vision reports to gain a better understanding of impairment impact on learning. After initial observations produced appropriate lessons. Could modify lessons on short notice due to no fault of hers but due to the day to day interruptions to class routines.
Tara discussed student progress with vision team demonstrating a good understanding of goals set and how to achieve set goals.
For example:
Tara's professional manner with all stakeholders was evident throughout practicum.
For example:
Tara regularly engaged in professional dialogue to evaluate learning experience to gain an understanding of how lessons went and to plan future direction.
Explained aspects of reformatting to new SLSO and how to best meet student need.
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
All staff members commented on Tara's caring and professional nature with students and an understanding of how best to cater for their individual needs. Engaged in professional dialogue with team members asking relevant questions to best support students and displayed a sound knowledge of the role of the ISTV.
All felt due to shortness of practicum it was difficult for Tara to work over a series of lessons to follow up and plan future directions for students.
In saying that all involved were very pleased with all aspects of Tara's time with us.
