Anne-Marie thoroughly researched the students' IEPs, discussed targets in need of clarification and in order to prioritise current targets. She ensured through conversations with me that targets were appropriate and motivating for the students. Anne-Marie wrote thorough anecdotal notes during and immediately after each lesson to ensure she recorded specific and relevant examples of demonstrated achievement.

During this practicum where Anne-Marie worked predominantly with students using Auslan as their primary language, there were limited opportunities/requirements to manage assistive technology. This was due to the fact that audition, speech and oral language were not targets for the students. In a whole-class lesson, Anne-Marie was observed wearing a wireless communication device. In an individual lesson, Anne-Marie ensure the student's hearing aids were functioning.

Anne-Marie demonstrated the application of theory around introducing fingerspelling to students using Auslan and linking it to printed English words in early intervention. She used fingerspelling and visual prompts such as word cards to achieve this.
Anne-Marie has researched specific aspects of Auslan linguistics to ensure she fully understood all targets in the Auslan screening tool utilised in our centre, and applied that knowledge to the assessment process.
During this practicum, Anne-Marie demonstrated great commitment to further developing her knowledge of Auslan linguistics and understanding of Auslan development in young children. She recognises the differences in language exposure, opportunity and development between deaf children who have Deaf parents and those who have hearing parents, and demonstrated the ability to adjust strategies for teaching and parent education accordingly. Anne-Marie willingly took advice and appropriately adjusted her skills and strategies to work with younger students. Considering the additional cognitive load that comes with working and teaching in her second language, Anne-Marie was able to manage all aspects of the teaching-learning process successfully throughout her practicum. Through effective personal reflection and conversations with numerous colleagues, Anne-Marie is aware of areas which require further development in Block 2.
