Diane needs more support to consolidate skills in this area. Supporting teacher did not have enough time during this practicum (which had been organised at very short notice) to provide sufficient support. Perhaps this can be a focus of support in her next practicum.

Ling sounds were used effectively. One of the children did not have speech processor on, but had hearing aid on the other ear and we discussed the implications of this wrt to Ling sounds and what the child could hear in the session.

Diane's lesson reflections indicate that she has taken on board suggestions that have been made. During her lesson she was willing to have suggestions made to her eg. to change approach.
Her ability to relate to and conduct lessons for the very high needs students was impressive.
Diane was completely professional in her interactions with the students, other teachers/staff and parents.
Diane demonstrated wider reading and asked about resources.
More clarity around goal setting is needed, but this will come as she gets to know students on her caseload.
Diane was faced with a very disparate group of children which she had to adjust to. One of the original focus children refused to cooperate at all so a child with a much more complex and challenging profile was selected. Diane took it all in her stride. Her strengths include her calm, gentle but firm manner with the children. Diane commented that she had learn a lot from the practicum. Her supervisor's concern is that there was so much variety that it might make it more difficult to make sense of it all! Nevertheless Diane showed that she is a person who values the support of colleagues and who will ask for help and advice when she needs it - and that is probably the most important skill for the consolidation of her skills.
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
