We didn't have many opportunities to observe this due to numbers of children and the site challenges. However, the FM system was used consistently and at appropriate times. Hearing aids were checked in the morning and the child who was a reluctant user was encouraged to wear them during the day.

Eleanor engaged well with all of the staff at our centre. She formed professional relationships with parents and members of our community and attended all staff meetings and training. Her skills and knowledge made a positive impact in our site, especially her planning, resourcing, delivering and reflections on the group times that she led. Her understanding of how repetition and rehearsal of new concepts and vocabulary are crucial to D/HH children is excellent. She quickly grasped how our early years setting and pedagogy is very different to school based learning and quickly adapted her teaching style accordingly.
Eleanor is a highly skilled teacher. Her planning, creativity, resourcing and observation skills were excellent. She was exceptionally flexible which is needed at this site and this certainly helped her to achieve a successful practicum. She is enthusiastic and built a great rapport with all of the children, engaging them all with her motivating group times. She understands the needs of D/HH children and allowed them to learn though play whilst supporting all of their individual goals - which can be a challenge in a mainstream setting. He communication skills are well developed including high level Auslan skills which enabled her to successfully include our Deaf staff, Deaf children and Deaf families at all times. It was a pleasure to have her 🙂
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
