Anna's lesson plans reflected an understanding of the focus student's abilities - after observation of LB (in class and during withdrawal sessions) and accessing her multitude of health reports. With this in mind Anna's goals continued on and extended from what we have been focusing upon within withdrawal sessions. Speech targets were included with appropriate activities and when Anna noticed the difficulty of LB's articulation of /s/ she quickly had her focus in on the visual aspect of the sound (ability to adjust, understand and be flexible). Anna evaluated effectively through analysing each aspect of her lesson during and after teaching. The language, communication and audition goals set were specific to LB's needs and Anna was able to reflect on what was effective and which aspects of each lesson needed developing which was mainly timing.

Anna was exposed to a variety of hearing technology during her time; WCD's, Compilot, Mini Mic, Bone Conductor Implantable Device (BCID), Roger Soundfield speaker and Pass around Microphone. She connected correctly and was able to troubleshoot as needed. Anna included in her programming a student's goal in becoming independent with her BCID as currently she relies on adults to place it on. She encouraged independence as well as reassurance during this lesson. Anna recognised the importance of the hearing technology within busy classrooms and acknowledged the difference in a student's audiological ability when devices are not being utilised efficiently.

Anna's ability to transfer this new professional knowledge and understanding of hearing loss into the role of a Hearing Support Teacher has been demonstrated. Anna's lesson plans have shown an in depth knowledge of the areas that student's with a hearing loss need developing. She has a thorough understanding of the importance of speech, language, communication and audition skills whilst engaging the students in activities that were motivating aiming at and just above their current level. Anna reflected on areas of development and how she would improve her teaching practice after each lesson. She identified areas in speech, audition and language in which she would target if continuing with the students she taught during this practicum.
Anna has shown during her time that her teaching is already that of a high standard with the experience she has had as a support class teacher. With the knowledge and skills she has gained during her professional learning Anna will be an amazing addition to any Hearing Team and an advocate and teacher to any Deaf and Hard of Hearing student she teaches. She has demonstrated an ability to effectively communicate with a range of teachers, outside agencies, family members as well as the students during her time with me. Anna actively participated in every aspect of the practicum and I wish her luck in her future endeavours as a Teacher of the Deaf.
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
