Kate has been able to look at individual students and to understand where their learning is at in relation to individual goals. Kate recognized that C was having difficulties with triangular patterns in math, and was able to revisit the previous lesson and then use a small whiteboard to show C the patterns. The examples were given until C demonstrated that she had a clear understanding.
Kate also set a goal for C to recognize irregular verbs with a 95% accuracy. C was able to correctly name the irregular verbs presented at that time. Later in the lesson C was unsure of an irregular verb, Kate recognized this and then revisited the learning.

The students that Kate has worked with during this prac are all students that are very reliable users of technology and that manage their own technology. We asked one of the students if she would mind loaning us her hearing aid and this was then used to demonstrate if the hearing aid was working. We then discussed trouble shooting and how to fix some basic problems. Kate also has an understanding of the use of FMs and speaker systems. This is an area that Kate will need to have additional assistance with.

Kate was able to take on board any suggestions that were given to her, and to then put them in to her practice. Kate was able to engage with the classroom teachers, and in the short time she was on prac develop good relationships. Kate was also observed talking to a parent who was a first time attendee to play group. She was able to make her feel very welcome and was able to answer all her questions appropriately.
It was a pleasure working with Kate throughout her prac. It was good to see her development throughout the 8 days and her ability to take on board any feedback that was given to her. Kate was very professional at all times, and was able to develop good relationships with other professionals, parents and the students. I feel that with her additional training she will be an asset as a Teacher of the Deaf.
