The student was able apply suggestion by HT and CT to achieve her learning goals and actively engage all students within the classroom. The student was able to apply her skills in aided technology and to test for optimal listening conditions. The student was advised to strengthen her skills in signing as this is an additional cue that the children use in the Hearing Support Unit. In this Unit, students are both Signed English and Auslan signers. She demonstrated and corrected the students speech and assisted the children with their written english grammar, using both the written and Signed English formation of english structure.
The student demonstrated her understanding of what is expected of a TOD. She was knowledgeable on all the testing tools that are available and implemented these with the child. She was able to build a rapport with her chosen child and developed successful communication between student, child and the parents. The student, one to one demonstrated excellent skill and was able to transfer these skills to create a successful lesson/outcome. The student was able to demonstrate knowledge for Senior Life Skills course of Work and The Community, and taught English to the whole class. She came prepared for each lesson and had made resources/games for her lessons. The student had access to a range of resources within the classroom and used these to enhance her lessons. The student utilised the skills of the SLSO to further enhance the lessons. Areas of improvement is to successfully manage the dynamics of the classroom and address immediately the academic/social concerns of various students. The student needs to implement various communication cues to the whole class so all students gain access to the curriculum. The student needs to participate in all aspects of school life, attend staff meetings and playground duty as per the CT, this was not evident during this practicum. She actively participated in our two day Athletics carnivals, where she was able to develop a relationship with the children from the Hearing Support Unit and interacted with the staff from the Support Faculty.
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
