Yolande consulted with the supervising teacher with regards to the students IEP goals and plan for the year. The students strengths and learning needs and motivations were discussed. Yolande discussed the progress of these goals and the current goals being worked on. Yolande integrated these into her individual student lesson plans and discussed with the supervising teacher how she would go about teaching the next skill. She was able to include the goal into the students specific area of interest in order to make the goal more achievable.

Yolande demonstrated good knowledge and understanding of hearing aids, cochlear implants and the Roger System. Yolande made use of the students technology during the sessions and was able to trouble shoot some basic problem areas e.g. Roger not connecting.
With one young student who was newly fitted with a Resound/Mini Mic 2+ and had a Kanso speech processor, Yolande showed a very keen interest in learning how to pair the Mini Mic with the Kanso processor. As this is fairly new technology, it was a great learning opportunity for Yolande and the supervising teacher.

Yolande showed a keen interest in learning about different assessment tools to assess and measure language skills e.g. the Compass Test, The Renfrew Bus Test. Yolande demonstrated the ability to apply her knowledge of practice e.g. the
auditory skills program and setting targets. Yolande was very motivated and fortunate to attend and participate in an All Staff Professional learning Day at TSH . Yolande observed her recorded session and could identify areas that require improvement e.g. using the phrase "thats pefect" as opposed to explaining to the student exactly what they did correctly.
Yolande was a very motivated and engaging student who was keen to maximise her learning opportunities in this practicum. Yolande asked lots of questions and reflected positively on the experience. She demonstrated excellent working skills and knowledge in the area of working with students with hearing loss. Yolande was an absolute pleasure to have as a student.
