She was able to demonstrate putting hearing aids back in and also correctly placing cochlear implants on ensuring that the indicator light was green to signal they are working.

Nicole was able to demonstrate various strategies to teach students (who all are identified as deaf and/or hard of hearing) in the hearing support pre-school/ Kindergarten unit. She demonstrated use of maximising position for teaching effectiveness ( re centered in front of students/ minimising glare), acoustic considerations, technology considerations (calibrating the FM to students/ checking students can hear), teaching techniques (such as acoustic highlighting, providing cues to stop and listen, articulation feedback and modelling, usage of concrete materials and manipulatives to enhance understanding, kinesthetic opportunities in lessons).
Nicole was able to demonstrate flexibility and response to a high demand environment that involves working with a multi-age and significant varying ability class that caters for students who are deaf/ hard of hearing from 3 years of age to 6 years of age (preschool and Kindergarten hearing support class). The environment and teaching style needs to work off both the interests of the child (to maximise engagement), teacher identified outcomes (such as IEP goals) and the NSW curriculum for Kindergarten students. Nicole was able to adapt to the latter factors. Students were both happy and excited to work with Nicole and participated well.
Do you consider that the Student is at risk of failing to achieve “Graduate level” by the end of their overall Practicum experience? No
